MOVING POPULATION
ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES. A YEAR'S GAIN OF 11,138. The total lumber of persons who arrived in the Dominion during 1920 was 44,062, and the departures during the year numbered 32, 92-1, the excess of arrivals over departures for the year being 11,138, as compared with io.Yi in 1919, and 2 50 in 1918. Of the total, 12,340 persons arrived from the United Kingdom, and 3995 departed therefor during the year. Fro i the Commonwealth the arrivals were 26,125 persons, and the departures thereto, 23,708. Arrivals and departures from and to other countries were 5597 and 57(11 respectively. Of the 44,062 persons who came to New Zealand last year, 621 G, or 14.11 per cent., were children under 12 years of age; and of Hie 32,925 departures the children numbered 3479, or Jo.."id per cent. The figures show that of the 44,062 persons who arrived, 20,95/ landed at Auckland and 21,189 a I Wellington. Of the 32,925 departures 12,967 left from Auckland, and 15,794 from Wellington. The Chinese arrivals 'lumbered 117'/. and the epartures 380.
