Mr and Mrs A. P. Dwan (Wellington) are visiting Hamilton. A cable message slates that Lord Haig has sailed for South Africa. The death is announced from London of Kitty O'Shea, the widow .of Charles Parnell. The Prime Minister, Mr Massey, will leave Wellington this evening to pay his promised visit to the South Island. Messrs W, Blennerhassett, T. Dent, C. G. Payze, H. Rollett, and A. J. Slieat are gazetted as trustees of the Peria Rabbit District. Mr H. W. Wilson, who was formerly town clerk for the City of Auckland, has been appointed town clerk or Northeote. Mr Cecil M. Brown, late engineer to the Kirikiriroa Road Board, has been appointed consulting engineer to the Tamahere Road Board, who recently carried a loan of £36,000 for bituminous roads. H. Ford announced last evening that Rev. E. O. Blamires arrived in Auckland on Saturday. It was Mr Blamires' intention to stay some days in Fiji, but shipping exigencies militated against this. Mr Blamires will resume his ministry in Hamilton the lirst week in March.
