Last Week's Successful Regatta at Hamlton.
The tremendous asset which Hamilton posseses in its river, both from the ■standpoint fe f pleasure and commerce, is only now beginning to be realised by the residents of the town. I'ntil quite recently the majority of the people only knew the river from the views to be had from the bridges and banks within tlie confines of the borough, but the new river steamer, Manuwai, has now given them a real glimpse of its
beauties. The fine, straight stretch of water at Hamilton makes an excellent regatta ground, and our picture shows the big water carnival held last Saturday, under the auspices of the local [Regatta Association, in progress.) The function was in every way a success, and a large crowd of people found enjoyment in watching the events from the refreshing shade of the trees that clothe the banks.
