KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the KirlKiriroa Road Board, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs T. Hint on, F. W Thomas .chairman;, .1. McGregor, .1. Old and \V. Henry. The Board accepted Ihe tender of Mr W. Burn, at 3 S per yard, for carting spoil to the contract on UlennieN ro.i I at Bototuna. The receipts and expenditure o! the Rototuna Domain Board for the year ended December 31 last showed a credit balance of £9 12s Id. This is from accrued rent, from properly controlled by the Board. Kalnui Metalling. A deputation waited upon the Hoard and asked thai metalling work be carried out over about a mile and a-lnlf of Hie Kainui road beyond Jackway's deviation. There were several clay hills on the stretch referred to, and improvement of the present state of the road was very essential. The chairman did not see much chance for metalling being :ionc out of general rate. A bit of patching could be done. It was pointed out that one of the hills was very bad and at least 10 to 15 chains of nielalling would effect a big improvement. On the motion of Mr Henry (lie Board resolved to spend £IOO on the n ad immediately and devote a further £IOO to the same road during April next. This was with the proviso thai the deputation arranged for the work being done, which was consented to by the latter. Works in tho D'strict. The foreman's report staled Inai LIIO spreading of metal on Waring's mad hail been carried out there, also mi Gray's road, where a concrete culvert had been put in, the bridge on !h - road being dangerous for Ira. Tie, stringers having been placed under No. 2 culvert. Gray's road work would lie completed this week. Patching work had been carried-out on the TaupiriOrini road and on Baggley's and Kainui reads. About a week'.- work for two men. with horse and dray, required to be done on Crane's road. The road between Taupiri and Ngaruawahia required patching. There were some bad lodes on Ibis road, while |he drains on it required cleaning before [ho winter. The road from Taupiri lo Orini reqoired attention in the mailer id' cleaning away some small slips mi the route, while a small culvert there also was in need of attention. The mad from Malcolm's to Baggley's required a week's work for three men, horse and dray. The report was adopted.
