CRICKET

LOWER WAIKATO'S VISIT.

LOCAL TEAM GO CHEAPLY

With the object of taking stock oi the outside cricketing talent, in view of the selection of the South Auckland side to meet the Australians this month, an eleven of Lower Waikato cricketers played ,a game at Scddon Park to-day against a team selected from the Old Boys and Warwick clubs. There are four clubs in the northern competition, viz., Ngaruawahia, Huutly. Pukemiro, and Ohinewai. Wicket and weather conditions were all in favour of the batsmen to-day, but the home team made a very poor showing on

going first to the wicket, being disposed of for the small total 'of 77 runs. The running between the wickets ot many of the batsmen showed a lamentable lack of judgment. Loveridge appeared to be getting set when he was run out. Sneddon was the only one of the others to shape with real confidence,' but the bowling, especially Scfton's, had to be respected at all times. Disaster set in early in the ranks ot the visitors, four wickets falling within twenty minutes' play before the adjournment came. Following are the scores; —■ OLD BOYS-WARWICK.
