The Raglan County Council put in a formal claim to Hie Hamilton Borough Council last night for 25 per cent, of Hie estimated cost (£ 1 i ,000) of the proposed new bridge over Hie Waipa river at Whatawbata. Hr Barton asked where the Council’s liability was going to end. We;v I bn;, to be saddled with part, cost of Hie Horotiu and Ngaruawahh bridges also? He believed they were being asked to contribute towards the cost of a bridge at Cambridge as well. The Conned should take a definite stand in the matter and say the Whalawhala bridge was too far away. Or Lowry asked if Hie recent tally was to be the only one. If so it, was taken at an unfair period of the year. Cr McKinnon: There should be a midsummer and midwinter tally also. The Council decided to lodge a formal protest against contributing towards the bridge'.
