A mass meeting of seamen is being convened to consider the demand by the owners respecting continuity of work. Mr Walsh has been elected president, and Mr Raeburn secretary by substantial majorities . Both are regarded as militants. Air Walsh, in 'communcating with the owners, stated that he hoped to he able to reply to their demands within a fortnight. OWNERS GRANT CONFERENCE, TO WATERSIDE WORKERS. (United Press Association.) Received February 4, 10.13 a.m. MELBOURNE, February 4. The shipowners have acceded to the requesls by the Waterside Workers’ Federation for a further conference 'respecting the new log. The owners previously offered 23s a day. The men rejected this, but are now re-consider-ing it.
