WOOL SALES
PRICES IN AUCKLAND. SLIGHTLY BELOW PRE-WAR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. AUCKLAND, Thursday. At tile Auckland wool sales to-day 8000 bales were offered. Buyers were present representing Bradford' Nancy, and the United States. For fine wool the morning prices were slightly lo\#r than pre-war rates, while coarser .wools and bellies were practically neglected. There was brisk competition for clean skirted One wool. The top price so far was 1 ijd for halfbred from Waihekc. The average quotations for coarse wool were from 3d to 4d a Ih, whereas at the Wellington fixture it brought from 4d to 5Ad a lb. There was absolutely no demand for lambs’ wool, cructhings, pieces, or seedy wool. Fine wools were limited in quantity, but there was a good demand. The only spirited competition experienced during the sale was when the halfbred and quarter-bred wool was put up- For three bales of half-bred, was realised, compared with iOd to 10|d paid for similar wool in 4 914, while two bales of quarter-bred wool brought 13Jd. Fine Romney wool fetched from 7Jd to 9d a lb, and medium from fid to 6d a lb. as against jOid to ltd in March, 1914. Light crossbreds brought up to BAd: .crossbred and hoggets from r>Ui to BAd.
