CRICKET IN AUSTRALIA

♦ THE ABANDONED GAME. PECULIAR POSITION CREATED. (United Press Association.) SYDNEY, December 10. The abandonment of the New South Wales v. South Australia match, which is without a precedent, is causing speculation respecting tiic disposition of the points. The Sheffield Shield rules say that matches must be played out, but according to the Marylebono Club the game was drawn. A round tabic conference between New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria will probably decide the matter. TO-DAY’S MATCH ABANDONED. Received December 10/10.50 p.m. SYDNEY, December 10. The cricket ground at Newcastle is under water, and the match against the Englishmen, which was to have started to-morrow, has been abandoned.
