Leygues slates that Smyrna, which was ceded to Greece under the Treaty, must be returned to Turkey, with for the protection of minorities. A complete agreement with Britain will be concluded on the basis of a modification of the Treaty of Sevres on lines which will not clash with Musselman susceptibilities. If France is confined to (he Western Mediterranean, her stains will be considerably reduced. Hence she is demanding a Syrian zone with Alexandria, which will bo one of the largest ports iii the Mediterranean in :>!» years. France will not remain m Cilicia.-
