PRESBYTERY OF WAIKATO

CALL TO REV. F. M. BEATTIE. INDUCTION AT TE AROIIA. The Presbytery met at Tc Aroha on Thursday, when Hev. R. Mackie presided. Call From Caversham. A call from the congregation of Caversham in favour of Rev. F. M. Beattic, was sustained and accepted, the date of the transfer to he fixed by the Presbytery of Dunedin. Mr (.inlanders, who appeared on behalf of the Te Kuitl congregation, expressed the high appreciation in which Mr Beattic was held as a pastor, an I also as a gifted preacher, and slated lh.it his removal would cause general regret. Several of the ministers made reference to the valuable assistance which Mr Beat tie had rendered In the interests of the church and said that his removal would be a great loss to the PresbyteryRev. F. A. Thompson was appointed interim moderator of Te Kuiti. Induction of Rev. J. A. Ryburn. In the evening Hev. .1. A. Ryburn was inducted into the pastorate of i"e Aroha. Hev. Morgan Richards, as interim moderator, presided. The official sermon was preached by Hev. .1. C. Mill, of Ngaruawahia. Hev. H. Mackie addressed the minister and Hev. F. M. Bcattie the congregation. 'l'lu 1 attendance was larsre, and the whole proceedings indicated a considerable interest in the settlement of Mr Ryburn. Social Gathering. At the close of the induction service a very enjoyable social hour was spent, when the newly-appointed minister was introduced to the people. Several excellent musical items were rendered and words of welc.ime spoken. Hev. .1. T. Burrows conveyed the ,<; I wishes of the members of Presbytery; Rev. W. Hopper represented the Methodist Church of the district, and Mr Morison sp<>Ue far the Te Aroha congregation, and in extending a very hearty welcome to Mi' Ryburn also, mi behalf of the committee, made the presentation of a cheque to Hev. Morgan Richards for liis services as i lerat.fr during the vacancy.
