LONDON', October 15. The Mayor of Chatham at the dockyard presented the cruiser Chatham, or the eve of sailing for New Zealand, with a ship's bell, silver salver and an engraving of the Battle of La Hogue, in which her namesake participated. The gifts were subscribed by the townspeople of Chatham. FAREWELL TO THE OFFICERS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received (icfobe* 17,11 5.5 p.m. LONDON. October 15. Sir James Allen gave a reception to Commodore Halham and the officers of the cruiser Chatham, at the Hotel Victoria. Colonel ].. <:. .\r. S. Amery, Lords Blyth and Hardwicke, the Countess of Seafleld, Lord and Eady Strathspey, Sir J. G. and Lady Ward, Mr Arthur Myers, the High Commissioners of Australia and South Africa, and 800 guests were present.
