Sir Auckland Gcdcles, British Ambassador, in a speech at a dinner in honour of the British Chambers of Commerce representatives, said:—“l believe most strongly that, despite • possible local diminutions of profit, commercial co-operation between the Untied States and Britain will pay us both best in Hie long run. No half baked communists or military adventurer can long disturb the world if the English-speaking peoples work together." Sir Auckland Gcddes denied the published reports that the British Government has re-sold to the German Government a number of German ships with the object of hindering the development of the American mercantile marine.
