OHAUPO. Farewell Gathering. A most enjoyable evening was spent on Wednesday at .Mrs .Jury's, when the neighbours gathered to farewell Mr and Mrs Mall, who are leaving for Auckland. Dancing was indulged in and soups were given by Miss Parker, Mr Way, Mr Thwail, and Mr Turner. Mr Way also delitrhled the visitors with his humorous recitations. \ presentation was made (,o Mr and Mrs Hall of a silver jug and basin and jam dish. A feature, of the evening was the supper, which displayed Mrs .lary’s lino taste and culinary art. Mrs Watson and Mrs Hart officiated al the piano. I am sorry to hoar that Mr Tong is very ill in the Waikato Hospital. I wish him a speedy recovery. Football. Great interest was taken in the football match played on Saturday, which ended—Olnrohaugn six, Ohaupo nil. Ohaupo’s luck was out, several of their players being on the sick list. a Coming Events. Ohaupo folks are looking forward with great pleasure to the forthcoming concert, which is being held to provide funds for the. Ladies’ Guild. Amongst the artists expected to perform are Miss Esmft Watson, A.T.C.L., of Ohaupo, and Mr Baume, flautist, of Te Awamutu. SPRINGDALE. Farmers’ Union. The annual meeting of the Springdale branch of the Farmers’ Union was held during (lie past week, when the president (Mr F. Walters) presided, and a good number of members were present. The chief item of business was the election of officers, which resulted in those at present holding office being elected, viz.: President, Mr P. Walters: secretary, Mr n. Johnson. School Committee. The, election of a school committee resulted in the following being appointed : Messrs L. Bailey, J. Bigwood, H. K. Martin (chairman), T. Sharkey, and 11. Wells (secretary). Influenza. Quite a number have been suffering from influenza and colds the last week or two, but fortunately all are improving. Personal. Mr J. M. Anderson has lately disposed of his farm at a very satisfactory figure. Mr Forbes West, of Eastport Road, lias had to go to Auckland to see a specialist for car trouble, following influenza. Mrs F. W. Walters is at present in Rotorua, and will spend a montli there.
