AN OKAUIA ROAD

REPAIRS BADLY NEEDED. SETTLERS WILLING TO HELP. Tui road, at Olcnuia, was (lie subject of a deputation consisting ol Messrs Storey, Richards and Pilkington to Hie Matamala County Council on Friday. Mr Richards said the road was in such a state at the present time that they could not get material in or out of their holdings, which was considerably hampering development. The road was soft clay, and was mipassablc >n winter time for wheeled traffic. They asked the Council to sand the road from a pit handy to the road—they did not want an expensive job, merely a goori coating of sand, and the settlers interested were willing fo meet the Council in thejuatter by providing the labour and carting the sand at half the ordinary contract price.

The riding member and engineer were instructed to meet the deputation on tlio spot.at an early date and to arrange for the work to be done.
