NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Board ■was hold on Friday. Present: Messrs 1 Laxon ('chairman) Jones, Ward, O'ollfe and Saulbrey. The Walpa Cpunt>* Council informed •the Board that il, was proposed to sand the nnnn'talled portion of Te Rapa-Te' Kowhai road. Although the road is used principally by Newcastle ratepayers, the whole of the eojt of upkeep has been, borne by the County. The Council now asked the Board to pay half cost of the re-sanding, the total estimated cost being- £6o.—The Board agreed to pay half cost. Air Forsman applied for some sanding on the road to his property at Te Kowhai; also .Mr Fullerton for sanding on Mclyor's road.—Requests granted. Mr Ward reported having procured a, surfaceman for the Koroma!ua. Mr Jones was authorised to engage one Sov T<s Kowhai district, ' „ •>' Mr W. Jarvis requested permission '■ to erect the boundary fence of his land on the old Whalawhata-Hamilton road, near the water-tables, so that lie rpuld deal with the blackberry on the roadside.—Granted, lie also pointed out that Lindsay's jra&d, at the junction 'with the main road, was. entirely on his land according to a recent survey. He requested the Board to have the matte? attended to.—IL was decided to inform him Jthat it was a matter for himself and t'liß owneij of the land on the opposite side of the road to deal with.
