ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

w WANDERERS' v. UNITED.

At Scddon Park on Saturday the temporary teams met, anil an enjoyable ,' fame was the result, owing to some' of the players being laid'aside through the "ilu" neither side were at full strength. Mr Eliott had charge of the game, and the result was three goals each, the scorers being, for the Wanderers Hennie (2) and Gordon, and for the United 'Puke, Burnett, and Crabb. United showed the most combination, and at limes played pretty football. Their inside forwards made things hot for the Wanderers' defence, and kept them moving. Towards the finish, crabb went through on his own, and scored Die best goal of the match. The Wanderers were best served by Smith and McKinnon at back, and Dewar at centre-half. Gordon, at right half, played a hard game, but seemed out of position. On the United side Tuke. Harnett and Crabb played a splendid grtme, their combination at times reaching a high standard. The latter, end of- the game developed into a

tussle between these three inside forwards and Dewar, Smith and McKinnon. The match showed that there is Ihe makings of a good side in Hamilton, and on .lime 3rd they should put u| a. good show against Ihe Auckland boys.

It is a pity there are not more team* in the Waikato to make "the game more Interesting. if Te Awamutu and To Kuiti could manage to raise teams the '■ld Waikato League could be revived.
