AN UNPRESENTED REPORT
♦—■ WATER FOR A FARM. DIVINER CLAIMS EXPENSES. A man named Henry Thomas Warner, claiming to be a water diviner and water expert, sued at the Hamilton Court yesterday, before. Mr H. A. Young, S.M., for the sum of £1 lOs from Robert H. Wood, land agent, of for services allegedly given. Mr E. H. Northcroft appeared for plaintiff and Mr T: Walshe defended. Mr Northcroft said the plaintiff was engaged by Wood to visit a property at Matamata with a view to bettering the water supply and to sec if the installation of a ram was feasible. He made the journey to Matamata by rail, but owing to the general election occurring on that day, he was unable to get to the, farm, as he could not get a car, although he had a written authority to a taxi-driver at Matamata from Wood to take him (plaintiff) out to the farm. He therefore returned and informed Wood of the position, when the latter showed annoyance and refused to pay him. Plaintiff therefore claimed £1 10s for his services and general expenses. Defendant said he engaged plaintiff to report upon the water supply at the farm in question, but as he had received no report he did not see why he should pay. He would willingly have paid had the report been presented. He was in fact, anxiqus to have the report". Judgment was given J"or plaintiff for the amount claimed and costs.
