SALE OF A PIG
NO CONTRACT. RETURNED SOLDIER'S CLAIM. A farmer named C. .T. Drake, of Mercer, sued Rose Anna Lafferly. boardinghouse-lteeper, of Prankton, at the Hamilton Court yesterday, for £7 0s 3d the price of a pig alleged to have been sold and delivered to her on or about February, 1913, whilst she was unmarried'Mr Ross appeared for plaintiff, instructed by Mr De la Mare, and Mr H. J. McMullin defended. His Worship said plaintiff himself knew nothing 1 of the alleged transaction, as he was away on active service iit the time, but plaintiff's father, in evidence taken in Wellington, stated that' the deal was more of a friendly one than a business one, although a price was agreed on. The defence was that no contract was entered into for the sale of the pig and that no pig was delivered. Judgment was given for defendant, with costs.
