THE MEXICAN REVOLT
SUCCESS OF THE REBELS. ACCESSIONS TO THEIR RANKS. CAPITAL'S SURRENDER REPORTED. (Reuter's Telegrams.) NEW YORK, May 8. Reports from El Paso state that the Vera Cruz garrison has Joined the revolt. "The rebels captured Lampass, and stopped trains proceeding to Mexico City. Later reports reaching the rebel headquarters at Jaurcz stale that the cities of Sal Tillo, Zocatoeas, Aguascolienles, Morreon and Oaxaca, 'have fallen into the rebel hands with Generals Diogucx, Gasoario Castro and Austin Castro who are joining the revolution. Another report claims that General Hall received the surrender of the Carranzlslos in Mexico city this morping. Other reports state that General Obregon entered the city with rebel forces, that the Chamber of Deputieshad declared for the revolution, that half a dozen mdre Federal generals have gone over, and that Carranza is seeking to secure an armistice with the rebels. Thcs reports require confirmation. MARINES IN READINESS. TO PROTECT AMERICAN INTERESTS.. FURTHER ACCESSIONS TO REBELS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) NEW YORK, May 8. A force .of 1200 marines has been ordered to be in readiness to proceed to Mexico lo protect American interests. Messages from El Paso indicate that three Stale capitals, have joined the revolution. Communication between Mexico City and tho United States i? cut off. REBELS CAPTURE MEXICO CITY. CARRANZA TAKEN PRISONER. (Reuter's Telegrams.) Received May 10, 5.15 p.m.. WASHINGTON, May 9. Advices from Vera Cruz state that Generals Obregon and Gonzales entered Mexico City at the head of their armies. The city of Sal Tillo in Cariranza's home State of Coahuilla has surrendered. The rebels report that Carranza was maae a prisoner When Mexico City was captured, . - REBEL SUCCESS. CONFIRMED. (Australian and N.Z. and Reuter.) , Received May 10, 7.40. p.m. ** WASHINGTON, May 10. The State Department has announced that the rebels, under General Obregon, on May 7,■'took Mexico City and Tampico. Carranza fled. REBELS CONTROL MEXICO CITY. CARRANZAISTASSURROUNDED. (Reuler.) (Received May 10, 10.40 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 9. Reports from Aquapricta state that General Obregon completely controls. Mexico City and Vera Cruz. It is rumoured that Carranza is endeavouring to reach the United States, through the stales of Tamulipas and Nuevoleon.
