N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION
HUNTLY WEST BRANCH. A meeting of the Huntly West branch of the Farmers’ Union was held on the 11th inst. On account of the small attendance tile election of officers ■ for the ensuing year was postponed, until the next meeting. A proposal from the Auckland Provincial Executive that the next annual conference in Auckland should be devoted chiefly to consideration of a scheme for reorganising the Union on more efficient and business-like lines, received hearty support. Two remits were brought forward to be sent up for consideration at the conference in May. One, that all holders of household land (whether Crown land. Native land, or privately owned land) be given the right to purchase their holdings. The • other one was, that a conference be arranged between the various Farmers’ Co-op. Companies, with a view to the formation of u scheme whereby overlapping and competitions between the said companies could be prevented. These remits were both passed.
