Mr W. Jordan, of Hamilton, returned to-day from a holiday trip to Australia. Mr J. L. Bruce, qpting-Superintendeirt of Experimental Farms, is in Hamilton al present.

The estate of Hon. George Johnston, ex-M.L.C., who died in England, is valued at £157,843. Colonel Campbell, Secretary to the Treasury, is going on six months' leave to England. In his absence Colonel Essen will take over his duties. Rev. H. Ford, who is to act as locum tenens for Rev. E. O. Blamires during the latter’s absence in England, arrived in rfamillon to-day .

To celebrate their silver wedding Mr and Mrs Barlow entertained a number of friends at the Motumaoho hall on Friday evening. During the evening Mrs Barlow was the recipient of a silver entree lish from the residents of the district, and Mr Barlow was presented with a cigaytle holder and case.

Messrs T. W. Kirk (Director.of Horticulture), A. H. Cockayne Und R. Waters (Government Biologists) were in Hamilton yesterday. The Government officers, who are making investigations into the fire blight disease in fruit, left this morning for the Bay of Plenty district. Mr Will Owen, consulting engineer, of Auckland, is at present in Hamilton, conferring with the contractors, Messrs Ryan and L,add, in connection with the erection of the proposed destructor, under arrangement with the Borough Council, on the site of the old sanitary depot.
