A meeting of the Provisional Committee of the Cambridge Hydro-electric Power Board was held on Friday eveaMr W. P. Cauvain, consulting engineer to the Board, submitted a rsport of his preliminary investigationHe estimated that about 75 miles of line would be required for .the area, and that a loan of £50,000 would be necessary to carry the scheme through its first'stages. .The engineer supplied details of "the charges which, he considered, would be necessary to make, the scheme financially successful. Disappointment was expressed by members that *he Public Works De'pnrtme'nt had not announced its scale of charges to Power Boards, with the result that the boards were unable to state definitely what the charges to consumers would be.
