Mr Harle Giles, Conciliation Commissioner, is at present in Hamilton. His Lordship, Dr. H. W, Cleary, Catholic Bishop of Auckland, is visiting Hamilton. Mr R. Kirk, or Frankton, owing to ill-health, is- leaving shortly to take up his residence in Wellington. .Rev. E. T. Olds and Mrs Olds, of Hamilton, left by last night.'s Main Trunk express on a three weeks' holiday trip to Wellington and Christchurch.
Among the returning members of the' military garrison from Samoa, due to| arrive in Auckland by the Navua to-day ji was Private V. J. Cornwall, 'of Cam-♦ bridge. '
After an absence of about 10 years from New Zealand, Sir Francis Boys, who during most of the war period has occupied the position of Director of Meat Supplies in the Ministry of Food in London, has returned fcp ChrißtchurcU. Ecv. E. 0. Blamires and Mrs Blamires, of Hamilton, expect to leave New Zealand on February 19th on a 12 months' holiday trip to America and England. During their absence Mr Blamires' place at St. Paul's Church will be taken by Eev. W. Smith, who recently returned to New Zealand after several years on active service. A London correspondent, writing under date November 20th, says:— Lieutenant Hector Steele, M.C., B.F.A. (Waikato), has recently returned from Archangel. He was in Eussia for several months, and at the time of the evacuation he was second in command of the final defences. Mr Steele is leaving England this week on a visit to the Argentine.
