The extremists summoned their supporters to make a demonstration in the Reichstag against the Industrial Councils Bdl. A great crowd assembled, hearing placards and red flags, and troops in armoured cars with machine-guns surrounded the Reichstag. The mob defied the orders prohibiting their approaching the building, and rushed the troops and attempted to capture the machine-guns. The troops fired, killing and wounding several. Many strikes have already occurred against the Bill, notably at Hamborn, where the mob invaded the Town Hall and destroyed the archives. They also plundered shops.

ULTIMATUM TO GOVERNMENT. CONTROL OF INDUSTRY. BY THE LABOUR COUNCILS. (Australian and N.Z. Gable Assn.) Received January 16, 9.35 a.m. BERLIN, Jan. 13. A conference of labour councils is submitting a Dill to the Government under which the councils will assume control of the internal organisation of industry. They give the Government until the 15th to accept, otherwise they will! call a general strike throughout Germany.
