Most of th e local batsmen played the fast bowling of tho visitors with confidence, and McMillan gave a fine exhibition of all-round play, scoring 85 not out. The match between Hawke's Bay and the .second Canterbury eleven commenced at Hagley Park yesterday, there being a fair attendance.
