Most of th e local batsmen played the fast bowling of tho visitors with confidence, and McMillan gave a fine exhibition of all-round play, scoring 85 not out. AYellington in the first innings have made JO6 for six wickets. HA-WKE'S BAY v. CANTERBURY B. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The match between Hawke's Bay and the .second Canterbury eleven commenced at Hagley Park yesterday, there being a fair attendance. The batting of the visitors was hardly up to major association form, but some of it was very good. Hawke's Bay in the first innings realised 270.
