N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION
MATAMATA- BRANCH. There was a good attendance at thi monthly meeting of the Matamat: branch of the Farmers’ Union on Saturday. A letter was received from the chiei postmaster relating to application made for the letter boxes. The site at the corner of Burwood and Tower roads was approved, but the branch did nol agree with a box being erected at the branch of Tamihana and iHetana street, much preferring the 'corner of Farmer’s road, adjoining the glaxo factory, Mr Price was appointed to interview the postmaster on the matter. . The chairman stated that he had interviewed the Hon. W. H. Herries re the Peria rural mail, and that the latter had promised to look intp the matter. It was decided that the postmaster be approached on this matter also. It was resolved that a letter be forwarded to the chairman of the Auckland Repatriation Committee, asking it. to recommend the formation of a committee in Matamata. The brahch considered this absolutely necessary. Messrs H. Rollett, W. W- Livingstone, J. Cranswick, H. Freeling, H. Harding and J. W. Simpson were appointed to work with the Town Board in connection with the proposed welcome homo to returned soldiers. Other business was held over.
