GOVERNMENT’S POLICY OUTLINED

PROGRESSIVE MEASURES

(United Press Association.) (Received August 13, 1120 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 13

Speaking at Lismore, Hon. W. A. Holman, the State Premier, outlined the Government’s policy, which includes the introduction of the Whitley Councils system. The principle of co-part-nership in large concerns is to be established. In regard to the liquor question the Government will take a referendum on the question of prohibition with compensation, the result to be determined by a Dare majority, commission will previously determine the amount of compensation. Six o’clock closing will continue in tin 5 meantime. Unemployment insurance will be available to every workman, and preference will be given in all employment to returned soldiers. The Government is determined to stop profiteering, and would not allow the growth of monopolies in any direction. He stated it would be Hie definite policy of the Government to give preference to locally-made articles. Mr Holman also announced the health policy, which includes the establishment of maternity hospitals and rest homes. - He concluded by outlining the afforestation, decentralisation and hydro-electric schemes.
