Permission was granted lor t.ie fence to be erected on the condition* outlined. The matter of the drain and approach was left to the riding member and engineer. Grand Vue Road. Mr C. B. Elliott (Frankton) on behalf of himself and others asked that attention he given to Grand Vue road and also to the approach to his properly. Messrs H. Barnsdall and Hilbert' Baird also wrote in regard to the same road. The matters were left to the riding member and engineer. At Estimate Time. The Minister of Public Works a 1-vi-sed that applications for subsidies for metalling purposes of certain roads in the Mangapiko riding and for general subsidies over the whole county would receive consideration when Lie estimates were being prepared. Necessary Work. Thirteen settlers and ratepayers the Norton and Koto-kauri roads asked for an appointment with the engineer and the member for Hamilton riding for considering wavs and means for improving these roads. The matter was left to the riding member and the engineer, the former advocating the formation of a special rating area as the work was a necessary one. Lord Jellicoo’s Visit. The Navy League. (Auckland Branch) asked the Council lo subscribe to the funds for the Admiral Jellicoe reception. The Minister of Internal Affairs advised that monetary votes in this connection would he validated by Parliament. The communication was received. Flood Damage. Air W. F. Horne asked that attention be given to a road culvert near Mr T, Dagg’s corner, Leamington, to prevent flooding the writer’s property. The riding member and the engineer were instructed to attend to the matter. Prohibitive Cost. The Inspector of Factories (Hamilton) sought information for the Superintendent of Workers’ Dwellings if the Council had ever discussed the matter of a high water pressure to the workers’ dwellings at Laurenson Settlement, Forest Lake Road, Frankton Junction, and if so, what was decided on.
The Council resolved to advise that the cost was prohibitive for the small number concerned. Timber Floating.
In the matter of the “Timber Floating Act, 1910,” Messrs Steele and Hemmings, of Mamaku, saxvmillers, gave notice to Carriers, lessees and occupiers of land along the course of the Waikato river from a point on the northern side of the river about a mile below the Waihi Company’s electrical works at Hora Hora to the sawmills of the United Timber Coy. at \iprcer. It was the intention of the xwmillers to apply for a timber float--;g license, objections to which must -sc lodged within 14 days with the Lands Commissioner. Paterangi Matter. Messrs Geo. E. Clark & Sons advised that as they had sold their pronoptv to Mr P.hodes they did not intend to proceed with their application for the opening of a road at Paterangi. Cr. Reid said that a previous letter to the Council on this matter, from another direction, had misrepresented the facts in that Mr Clark was alleged to have removed a fence from one side of the road to his own. However, this was not so, as he had put up a new fence but had not removed the other, as alleged. Good Road Wanted. Messrs John Teddy and C. Griffiths, on behalf of the ratepayers on the Ohaupo-Ngahinepouri road, asked that metalling be done to the road for about It miles at varying points, the petitioners being quite willing to pay for a good road. The matter was referred to the engineer and the cicl’k to confer with those interested with the object of forming a special rating area. Road Completed. The engineer reported that Messrs Thomson & Farrer had satisfactorily completed Duncan road, near the Golf Links, and on Mr Mandeno’s suggestion registration was granted.
