The warship New Zealand has been refloated, owing to the refusal of the boilermakers to work overtime. The repairs will have to await the vessel's return to London for overhaul. The Federal Cabinet has appointed a commission to proceed to New Guinea to inquire into the administration of German New Guinea and the adjacent islands. INDUSTRIAL UNREST. COMMISSION OF INQUIRY.. (United Press Association.) Received August 9. 10.50 a.m. MELBOURNE, August 9. In the House of Representatives, Hon. W. A, Watt announced that the Government is appointing a Royal Commission to inquire into the cause of the industrial unrest in the Commonwealth. STABILISING THE CURRENCY. (Times.) LONDON. August 7. The Times lobbyist states that the Government is. allocating £250,000,000 as a guarantee to British exporters trading with Russia and new Slates where the currency is unsatisfactory.
