PUTARURU HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER WORKS. EFFECT ON FARMS.
Just nine and a-half miles out of Putaruru the Arapuni Hydro-Electric Power Scheme, on which the preliminary work has been proceeding for some months now, is bound to have a decided effect on the value of farms in the Putaruru district in the near future. One farm close to the site, where it is estimated between two and three million pounds will lie spent ancl the railway between Putaruru and Te Awamutu will run, is now available at the low price of £8 per acre, with the small deposit of £350. The. area of this farm is 173 acres, situated a mile and a-half from Puketurua cheese factory, school, store and post-office, and is all easily ploughable and well watered. It is fenced and subdivided, and lias a 3-roomed cottage and G-bail cow shed, and 56 acres are already in grass, 21 acres of which are new grass.
