WRECKED COSTAL STEAMER
GOES ASHORE IN A FOG. ABANDONED TO THE -UNDERWRITERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Monday. It is stated that it was a very foggy rooming when the Queen of the South went ashore, and the light from Cape Campbell was not seen till three miles distant. The vessel struck at 5 a.m. The crew are quite comfortable, having plenty of clothing and blankets. The vessel is fast on the rocks, with a big hole amidships, and will probably become a total wreck. There is a Heavy swell on the reef, and it is impossible for the tender to get alongside. WELLINGTONj Monday. The owners af the Queen of the South have decided to abandon her to the underwriters.
