BOMBS BY POST
TO I.W.W. OPPONENTS. GIRL'S HAND BLOWN OFF. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received May 1, 8.15 p.m. NEW YORK, April 30. Infernal machines were found in mails addressed to prominent people throughout the United States, chiefly opponents of the I.W.W. propaganda. A negro maid of ex-Senator Hardwick's household had her hand blown off while opening a parcel containing bombs received through the post. Mr Hardwick was formerly prosecuting attorney for the Washington County, Georgia. Several parcelled bombs were addressed to the Californian District Attorney.
