POST OFFICE ROBBED. £SOO IN NOTES SECURED. Bv Telegraph—-Press Association. DUNEDIN, Friday. A daring robbery took place at the Milton Post Office on Wednesday night, a sum of £SOO being removed from the safe. Mr. McGuire, the Postmaster, states that he heard a noise in his bedroom, where the keys of the office were, some time during the night, but as it was not repeated, he concluded it arose in another part of the house. At 7 o'clock next morning a hoy from the office informed him that the door of the safe was standing open, and investigation showed that the above sum in notes had been taken. A PRISONER S ESCAPE. JUMPS FROM~EXPRESS TRAIN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Friday. Arthur Leo Ashton, a prisoner on his way to the Borstal Institution, made a sensational escape from the express train. Ashton, who had been sentenced to two years' imprisonment for theft, took advantage of the reduced speed of the train at"Edendalc, and jumped on to an embankment. Though pursued by a constable, he made his escape to the bush on the Hokonui Ranges.
