COURSING
(By “Call Steward.”) As some new owners are in doubt -s to their dogs’ qualifications, 1 may inform them that a maiden is a dog who has not won more than £5 in any one stake. A fair amount of work is still to be done to the grounds and any enthusiast willing to assist is requested to attend the plumpton at Frankton on Sunday morning next. Imogene (Peter —Dolly) who was runner-up to Soldier in a stake last season, and is now owned by Mr Sanson, of Manawaru, is- reported to be looking particularly well at present. Mr J. Hamilton has three dogs in active work. As Dame Fortune has smiled consistently on the genial Jack in the past, this season should be no exception to the rule. Mr Fraser Smith’s Malster (Norman Tuckfleld—Golden Heather) is undergoing a preparation for early events. If looks go for anything, he should be hard to beat. Mr J. Hannon, of Wanganui, leaves for Australia next month, with two dogs to represent him in the forthcoming Australasian Waterloo Gup. Mr J. W. West’s two dogs, All Black and Bill’s Gift, are being trained at Eureka.
