LABOUR CLAUSES IN' THE TREATY. EQUAL PAY'FOR SEXES., (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received April 30, 5.5 p.m. WASHINGTON, April 29. The Labour clauses proposed for inclusion in the Peace Treaty provide a day of rest a week, abolition of child labour, right of association for all lawful purposes, a standard eight-hour day, and equal pay for the sexes. The Daily Chronicle’s Geneva correspondent slates that the German Government and party leaders had a secret conference in Berlin, and decided to ostentatiously oppose the signing., ,of peace and to organise popular demonstrations and create a fictitious Cabinet crisis in order to secure an amelioration of the terms.
