HAMILTON SOLDIERS’ CLUB FUND
ORGANISING THE SCHOOLS
Last night the principals of the various schools in Hamilton and delegates from the Citizens’ Committee met in the old Borough Council Chambers. Mr A. E. Manning outlined the aims and objects of the proposed club, and asked for the help of the teachers m interesting the children in the movement. , The proposals set out that the campaign be explained by t/e teachers to their respective classes and the children asked to secure their parents’ co-opera-tion. For this purpose a leaflet be distributed to each pupil to take home, setting out clearly the proposals of the Citizens’ Committee in regard to the Soldiers’ Club; that each scholar of the various schools be invited to subscribe to the funds —from Id to Is, according to circumstances; that each school be invited to raise funds for the Soldiers’ Club by concert or play, or sports meetring, or by any other method deemed expedient or desirable. It was decided that each school work individually at present, and that later a combined schools concert be held.
