THE EGYPTIAN TROUBLES
NOT READY FOR INDEPENDENCE.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received March 30. 5.5 p.rn. NEW YORK, March 29. The New York Times, in comtqenting on the reported Nationalist riots in E ei'Pt, points out that Egypt came under British rule through the incompetence of the native Government. The paper says that if Egypt is given independence now probably in a few years the country will be in turmoil, and adds that Britain is prepared to give the Egyptians self-government by degrees, as they tit themselves for the responsibility.
THE ARMISTICE
REPORTED ALLIED ULTIMATUM
1 OVER DANTZIG LANDING
(Received March 30, 5.5 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, March 29. There is excitement at Weimar at the report that the Entente has delivered an ultimatum to Germany that the armistice will be broken off if Germany opposes the Poles landing at Dantzig.
A SUSPENSION POSSIBLE.
(Received March 30, 5.5 p.m.)
BERLIN, March 29. The Lokal Anzeiger reports that a suspension of the armistice with the Allies is possible.
