FENCOURT MAIL SERVICE
The Pencourt Rural Mail Committee met on Saturday last, when Mr. W. Harbutt was in the chair. The chairman said that the meeting had been called to consider what steps should be taken to remedy the present unsatisfactory state of the mail service. Mr. Christie, at his request, had seen the postmaster, and it was quite plain that all the trouble lay with the Railway Department in not running the train up to schedule time. Mr. J. Christie said that the Chamber of Commerce had already taken action, /and he proposed that a ..deputation consisting of the chairman, Mr. Wynn Brown .and himself wait on the Chamber of Commerce and arrange how they can best support them in their endeavours to have the train service improved.
h’he postmaster wrote that the mail boxes are not placed acording to specifications, and caused a .certain amount of delay to the mailman. It was decided to notify the boxholders that the boxes must be placed so that the mailman can clear them and deliver the day’s mail without leaving bis vehicle. It was mentioned that r )S. was required from each hoxholder to make up the subsidy for tire year.
