ALLEGED CATTLE STEALING

ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. At the Police Court at Te Awamutu yesterday, before Colonel Ryder and Mr Young, J.'sP., H. Cunningham was charged w ith the theft of 18 head of cattle, valued at £135, at Honikiwi, on January 13. Accused was not defendod. SeniorSergeant ' CasseHs represented the police. Sixteen witnesses were called, and great interest was taken in the proceedings by the general public. Accused was committed for trial rfc the Supreme Court at Hamilton en March. 4. Bail, which was fixed in accused's own surety of £2OO and two other sureties of £2OO, was not forthcoming. Cunningham had previously been committed for trial on another charge.
