HIGH SCHOOL v. HAMILTON. This match resulted in a win for Hamilton by 4G runs. It was concluded under unpleasant conditions and after a little play the pitch was in such a state as to give the players no foothold whatever. In their second innings the students made a plucky light, but the conditions were against run getting. Had the wicket been firm there would probably have been an exciting finish, but on play on Saturday Hamilton was slightly the better team. Hamilton continued their second innings, and as Pomeroy was absent, Seed partnered Boneham. Boneham made 23 by good cricket, but gave several chanches. At four o'clock, after an adjournment on account of heavy rain, Hamilton declared their innings closed. High School required 99 runs to win, but fell short of this number by 46. The bad state of the wicket favoured neither batsmen nor bowlers, and many runs and intended hits were lost on account of slipping. Going and Peebles were the chief scorers. Both played briskly, but the latter played the better strokes. During the afternoon Peebles and Jonathan took good catches. The scores are: — HAMILTON. Ist Innings .. .. ..: 25 First Innings.
