AUSTRIA'S DOWNFALL
ITALIAN OCCUPATION OF TRIESTE NO OPPOSITION TO THE LANDING. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received Nov. 6, 1.30 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 5. Three battalions of Bersaglieri disembarked at Trieste, where the fleet entered with all flags flying. There was no resistance to the landing. Italian vessels are unloading foodstuffs for the benefit of the population. The Austrian authorities had fled some davs.
AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN ARMY DESTROYED. (Australian, N.Z. and Reuter.) Received November 6, 1.30 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 5. Italian official: The Austro-Hungarian Army has been destroyed. It suffered very heavy losses and left in our hands 300,000 prisoners and 5000 guns. AUSTRIA'S LOST NAVY. Received November 6. 9.50 a m WASHINGTON, Nov. 5. Mr Daniels, Secretary to the Naw, has given out a statement regarding the strength of the Austrian navy, which totals 248 vessels of various types, including 15 battleships, 15 cruisers, 21 destroyers, 67 torpedo boats, 45 submarines, 10 torpedo gunboats, and 53 mine-layers.
