2nd AUCKLAND MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
(To Iho Editor.) Sir,—A Military Service Board being a judicial body, it is not fitting that I should justify my board's decisions through the columns of the public press. There is another place and opportunity to do that, when necessity arises. But there is one point in Mr John \Y. Warren's letter, which appeared in your issue of the 14th inst., which 1 think it advisable to reply to. lie asks what further evidence the Board wants to induce it to re-open the case lie refers to. It is rather a naive question. The evidence the Board wants, of course, is a rebuttal of the statements made on oath by the vicechairman of the company that the reservist in question was essential to the company and that the company was essential to a large body of farmers throughout the territory over which it operates. As Mr Warren did not hear, and has made no effort to obtain access to, the evidence placed before the Board, although it sat recently for a week in Hamilton, 1 am not surprised at his question. Perhaps now Mr Warren will furnish the Board with the necessary evidence to justify his attack on its decision.—l am, etc., -i'UAXK K HOCKLEY. Acting-Chairman.
