THE WOOL PURCHASE
AGITATION CONDEMNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. Addressing the Council of Agriculture, Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, Minister of Agriculture, condemned the agitation by a section of the woolgrowers concerning the terms of the purchase of wool by the Imperial Government. Mr Mac Donald said the fanners must remember that the whole question of the disposal of the wool had not yet been settled. The Paris Convention had imposed certain obligations, and these could not be altered till the war ended. On the motion of Mr G. Hunter, M.P., the meeting expressed the hope that the negotiations between New Zealand and the Imperial Government in regard to the wool purchase would be on lines in the best interests of the Empire. Mr Hunter, in replying to a suggestion to include a statement that the meeting was not in sympathy with the East Coast farmers' complaints, said it was more dignified to ignore the agitation.
