THE PALESTINE CAMPAIGN
MISLEADING TURKISH REPORT. (Australian and N.Z. and Reuter.) Received April 29, 8.40 a.m LONDON, April 28. The War Officee states that a Turkish official report on the 19th stated that the English's request for a two hours' armistice had been arranged to give the English an opportunity to bury a large dumber of their dead. Thii statement gives the impression of heavy British losses. The facts were that after stubborn fighting the enemy, losing heavily, an arrangement was made between a German officer and the British Red Cross for the collection of wounded, the enemy having previously fired on our parties, causing a mutual abandonment of the collection of wounded and dead.
