WASTE IN TRAINING CAMPS. LAX DISCIPLINE AND ADMINISTRATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association). Wellington, Monday. Sergeant-Major L. Stephenson, of the 38th Reinforcements, giving evidence to-day before the Defence Expenditure Commission, asserted that waste was going on in the training of noncommissioned officers at Trentham. He was sure that a number of men went away with the 34ths medically unfit. There was no medical examination before they left. He thought that the discipline and administration in the camps were lax; the instructors, had nothing to work for and appeared to be getting tired of their jobs.
