Sir, —Are local bodies and farmers generally aware that under the present system wc are liable to receive no portion of above labour for carrying on our functions as local bodies or private individuals? lam informed by the Commissioner that three Ministers of the Crown may requisition for this lab--our, and they want it all for their own work. "Presently, unless we stir ourselves, we shall be unable to carry on any work at all, as I think, in common with most other drainage boards, we have been forced to depend almost eniiretyon these men.—l am, etc., N.
