PRIVATE H. V. RAMSAY.

Privitc Haicid V. Ramsay, N.Z. M.C. who was killed in action in recent fighting before Amiens, was the second son of Mr and Mrs J. Ramsav, of Waikworth, and was educated at the Auckland Grammar School ard Auckland University College. Before taking up teaching he was for several years in the Civil Sei vice at Wellington. Private Ramsay was for two years assistant master at the Hamilton High School, and subsequently at the Thames High School, from where he entered camp as secord-lieutenant ill the 14th Reinforcements, but resigned His commission for nc;;- mibatant service in the Medical Ccr, ;. Private Ramsay was a ;■ "ing man of many parts, and in additi \ to his scholastic work took a keen interest in games and the intellectual life of our town. He was a man of strong per. sbnality and high ideals, and was held in high esteem both by the scholars and his colleagues. RIFLEMAN R. GOODWIN. Mr and Mrs Goodwin have received word that their son. Rifleman R. Goodwin, has been killed in action. "Reg" was 21 years of age, and left with the 27th Reinforcements. Previous to enlisting he was in the employ of Messrs Watts and Brayshaw, Ltd., of Morrinsville, and on account of his genial disposition, was a general favourite. Great sympathy will be felt for the parents, who have now lost three sons at the front, and a fourth. Private J. Goodwin, is in hospital.—Morrinsville correspondent.
