Captain D. Bruce is well-known in «aikato. f having resided for many years at Te Pahu and more recently at Hinuera. He took an active interest in local affairs being a mem tier of the Raglan County Council until he left Te Pahu. He was a keen volunteer, and although on the Reserve when warbroke out, offered his services, which were accepted, and on reaching England he was attached to the Pioneers under Lieut-Colonel G. A. King, with whom he had been previously associated in the 4th W aikato Mounted Rifles. lieut. e. j. McGregor.

e ?«« McGregor is the elder son of Mr Ewen McGregor of Hamilton. He was an enthusiastic- member of the Machine Gun Section of the 4th Waikato Mounted Rifles, and left, as a sergeant in the -Machine Gun Section of the Main Body. He saw service on Gallijpoli. where he received his commission, and later in Fiance when lie was wounded, having returned to New Zealand a few months a go. AN AUSTRALIAN KNIGHTED. (Reuter's Telegrams.) Received January 1, 8.35 p.m. LONDON, January 1. Hon. G. C. Wade, Agent-General for New South Wales, has been knighted. The issue, of the Dominion's list of Orders of the British Empire has been postponed for some weeks.
