RE FRANKTON SALEYARDS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—Will you allow me a little space in your paper to say that this Association also deprecates the erection of saleyards in such close proximity to two large butter factories. My Association's factory is perhaps not menaced to the same extent as is the factory of the Waikato Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., but we view with concern the prospect of having a niore or 'less constant supply of dirty cattle trucks standing near the factory or passing to or from the proposed yards, in addition to having the increased road traffic which must result from saleyards upon the proposed site. The business which is represented by saleyards and also the dairy business are both important to the Waikato, and the future success of both requires that one should not menace the other, especially as the same or kindred interests are represented in each. I trust that even yet the directors of the proposed saleyards will select another site where their business can increase and prosper without menacing the butter factories at present existing, or impairing the vested interests which such factories represent.—l am, etc., H. E. PACEY. Managing Director, New Zealand Dairy Association, Ltd. Auckland. December 10th, 1917.
